Mission
Who we are:
We are a young company that has been prospecting halal processes and halal production since 2014.
Our goal is to develop a halal food circuit in which the understanding of halal is evident.
We want to create an environment in which the Muslim consumer can rest assured that all products offered are fit within the framework of his/her conviction.
We follow the Koran and the Sunnah, as understood by the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
This implies that only Halal exists for our company. For haram and grey zones there is no place in our story. A product that has the slightest doubts will not find an entrance, let alone be sold.
Qibla wants to become the Halal conscience of the Islamic consumer.
Why:
The way of eating for the Muslim is threatened. There is less space to maintain the Muslim identity in terms of food. The decree (1) on the ban of unsedated slaughtering is a clear example of this.
In Belgium, thanks to this political decision, there is no more halal meat available on the market (Flanders 01/01/2019-Wallonia 01/09/2019). Even in other European countries, the political tone towards Muslims is becoming harder and harder.
As far as production is concerned, most processes are of that nature that the organization of this is in the hands of non Muslims. Despite the fact that these companies mean well, they do not know the rules and sensitivities or not enough. Often, Halal and Haram processes run parallel or cross one another.
Furthermore, the problem of the assessment by certification agencies also remains. Prior to certification, a snapshot of a moment in time of the activities will be assessed during the audit. On the basis of the obtained certificate there can be halal production without consistent permanent control. After this certification, the company is responsible for monitoring the halal process. This method of working implies that companies of any kind can obtain a halal certificate by taking an audit against payment.
On top of that, it is a fact that halal food has a clear theological framework that is very concretely defined, but there is no legal enforceable framework in Europe. Sinning against the Halal regulations is not punishable by law.
There are no structural solutions to all these problems today.
Qibla will be responsible for the whole process, from the meadow to the shop.
How:
We make sure that there is being slaughtered in an environment that does not fall under the decree ban on unsedated slaughtering.
We believe that one should not pay for a halal certificate. This should be evident.
We want to be the pioneer making halal understood. Our way of working will be structurally different from what is currently available. We say no to alibi certification and will therefore go with our own all-in formula.
Qibla wants to make the difference for you by approaching this completely different.
